Business Development Manager, Payment Solutions & POS Technology (Japan)

A growing payment technology provider is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive business growth and market expansion across Japan.

This role focuses on developing relationships with banks, payment service providers, fintech companies, merchants, and financial institutions while promoting innovative payment and POS solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, expanding market presence, and supporting the firm’s long-term growth strategy in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business development activities and identify new revenue opportunities within the payments and POS ecosystem
  • Promote payment technologies and POS solutions to banks, payment service providers, fintech companies, and financial institutions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Develop strategic sales plans and execute market expansion initiatives
  • Partner with regional and global teams to deliver tailored payment solutions to clients
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through negotiation and deal closure
  • Monitor industry trends, market developments, competitor activity, and emerging technologies
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support product and business strategy

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within the payments, POS, acquiring, merchant services, fintech, or financial technology sectors
  • Proven track record of business development, sales, or partnership management within the payments ecosystem
  • Strong understanding of payment solutions, POS technologies, merchant acquiring, or payment processing services
  • Established network across banks, payment providers, fintech firms, or related financial institutions in Japan
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Native-level Japanese language skills and professional English communication ability
