Data Engineer, Private Markets Technology (London)

Our client is a global technology business supporting the alternative investments and wealth management industry. As the business continues to grow, they are looking for a Data Engineer to join their London technology team and contribute to the development of a web-based private markets platform.

This role will focus on building and improving data architecture and ingestion pipelines, working with data received from fund administrators and ensuring high-quality, reliable data across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, improve and maintain data architecture across the technology platform.
  • Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines for data received from fund administrators.
  • Maintain databases and data stores across different environments.
  • Work with engineering teams to design and implement new platform functionality.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, efficient and well-tested Python code.
  • Troubleshoot data issues, perform reconciliations and resolve data-quality problems.
  • Promote good data architecture, engineering standards and development practices.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of scalable and reliable data solutions.
  • Keep abreast of emerging data technologies and share best practices across the engineering team.

Key Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in data engineering/development with Python.
  • Strong experience with Azure for data processing, storage and/or reporting.
  • Experience designing different types of data stores, including relational, dimensional, NoSQL or Delta.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities, including data reconciliation and quality assessment.
  • Familiarity with Git/version control; Azure DevOps experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong ownership mindset with a pragmatic approach to technology and problem-solving.
  • - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another discipline with demonstrable relevant technical experience.
